Emerson-Copeland Compressor/Fusite Lawsuit Andy Payne Todd Ramsey and Stefanie Bradshaw receive 16.3 Million dollar Verdict Against Emerson Climate and Fusite On October 23, 2015, a Tarrant County jury returned a 16.3 million dollar verdict in favor of Plaintiff, xxxxxxxxxxx . The product liability case involved an air conditioning compressor and components designed and sold by Emerson Climate Technologies and Fusite. The defendants’ compressor failed, spewing pressurized hot flaming oil onto Mr. Xxxxxxx’s face, neck and torso. The case was tried in the 48 th District Court of Tarrant County, the Honorable David Evans presiding. The main purpose of this blog is to bring awareness of the potential dangers of terminal venting and terminal venting with ignition to the men and women who service, repair or replace air conditioning and refrigeration compressors. Think about this. You have a product that has 120v, 240v, 460v or higher going into a sealed can that must co-exist with a highly flammable oil and very high pressures of refrigerant as well. Now think about that, what could possibly go wrong? It would be like putting a lit match in a half full can of gasoline with the lit match at the top and the gasoline at the bottom and hoping that all goes well ALL the time. You get my point. Now there are many things in your home or business that have electrical power going to them but how many also have highly flammable materials and are full of some sort of high pressure gas?
